Was stationed there '65 - '66 with 34th Trans Company of the 38th Trans Battalion of the 107 Trans Brigade but my company and battalion had to move to Panzer Kaserne to make room from CommZ moving in after Charles de Gaulle kicked them out of France. Loved Worms and disliked Panzer, too far from Boblingen and Stuttgart! Best, Dave E.

I was stationed in Worms from May of 1968 to June of 1970 when it was TASCOM. I worked in the IG office for Colonel Melvin Fletcher. I remember going across the street to The Old Penny, owned by Herr Lever. In June of 2018, I went back to visit and stayed in the barracks, which is now The Prinz Carl Anlage hotel. Ach Du Lieberschnitzel! I love those fine, decent Germans. All things considered, they treated us "Amis" pretty well. I went native, embraced the locals and their customs, and they opened their hearts to me. I'm kind of sorry I didn't marry and stay, because I know them as fine, cultivated Christian people.

Mr. Santoro, I believe that our families were friends. My name is Eddie Lessley. We lived in Pheddersheim in 68-69 and lived in Worms 71-74. I have a older brother named Danny and two little sisters named Monica and Missy. I have pictures of the Santoro family during that period. I believe that you were called Johnny. I also have very good memories of that place.

Do you remember the Marines that were there? We were famous...actually infamous. Just kidding. Best time I had during 4 years of active duty.

I was a Marine NCO TDY at Worms from January - May 1978. There were 4 of us and we had a great time. Ate at the pizza restaurant by climbing the wrought iron fence outside the barracks. Also went to a bar called "The Point" by the train station. Remember the outdoor cafes on the Rhine and of course the Rod & Redneck. Great times!

I was with the 232nd Signal Company 1979-1980 and often hopped the South Gate for pizza and getting to town - obviously I was never shot. I believe that pizza place is now a Thai restaurant. I would also walk out the North gate and visit the NCO club for dinner on occasion. Other activities included nightly elbow warm-ups at the Rod & Gun Club and participating back stage with The Worms American Repertory Theatre (WART) - and one overnight stay with the MPs - self induced and a long tragic story of young love involving an English girl that broke my heart.
